I took a time-out and created a vision for the next chapter of my life. A life that I am proud of. A life where I am in charge. A life where I make the decisions on who I work with, the kind of work I do, where I work, who I work with, and how much I work.
As part of that vision, the work that I do will be recognized and appreciated both verbally and financially, and I will maintain control of the balance of my personal and work life.
I have undergone a metamorphosis and emerged as a stronger, more focused, and confident person.
It’s so much more than creating a company or a brand; it’s creating a new approach to life. One that’s bold and unapologetic.
Then I had a light bulb moment!
This is the same approach I take to building brands. Bold, decisive, and unapologetic. It’s also about being attention-getting, noticeable, and distinctive.
FEARLESS is my approach to brand building AND it’s my approach to life.
The reality is, that living in fear or making fear-based decisions is the root of every issue or problem I have faced in business or personally.
It always leaves everyone with regrets and negativity.
Fear hides behind “logical” decision-making or a desire for “more data” “not enough budgets” or “the timing isn’t right” – we all know all the excuses, but the reality is that is exactly what these are, excuses.
Reasons for not following our ambitions. For not taking the road less traveled. For doing the same thing that everyone does, THE SAFE THING.
The amygdala is the part of the brain that processes fear. I am NOT a neuroscientist, but I found this great article on CNN (link in comments) that explains how it works simply. Fear is a survival mechanism that helps people stay alert and avoid danger, but it becomes harmful when people allow fear to take over their decision-making.
So, don’t do the easy thing. Don’t just follow your amygdala. Take the road less traveled. BE FEARLESS. BE BOLD. BE ATTENTION GETTING. BE DECISIVE. I PROMISE, YOU WON’T REGRET IT.
